The Courageous Class

I´ve always been the kind of people who gives a lot thought to everything before making up my mind. Maybe too much thought. I´m a doer for sure, but honestly, sometimes I doubt the choices I make too, like it may happen to all of us at some point.

A few experiences, have pointed out to me the importance of just doing and going for things. Start somewhere, even if you are terrified to give that first step and don't feel prepared. The truth is most of the time we are not completely ready for things. We live in a constant learning process and will always want to improve or fix something, especially when being a perfectionist and wanting every detail to be, well... perfect! When opportunity strikes you just have to go with what you have, ready or not. So Improvise, take chances and go with flow.

The idea of performing an extended concert before the end of the year had been on my mind for long and this event is just the perfect scenario for my comeback. It´s too exciting! Even though we have been preparing with little time for this show (and there are things I want to set up and work for summer shows), I am very happy and lucky to have an all-star line up of musicians performing with me. I completely trust them to play my songs splendidly and above all, I hope they also have a blast performing with me that day and in future shows to come, as long as I continue to be blessed with health and my gifts.

The time has come to perform live my first solo-artist show after a few months of break I took since my last full concert at the Panama Jazz Festival on January this year. It´s been a while and though I´ve had certain appearances on special events and collaborations with other artists, performing a full concert is another thing! As much as I love going on stage to perform even if it´s just one song, it´s always better when you are not done by the time you are just getting warmed up. I always want more.

So the special day will be this Thursday October 27th at La Buat (a seaside club located in Casco Antiguo), where Kenneth Cole will be holding their #MyStepsWill event, introducing their wonderful fall 2016 campaign: The Courageous Class.

Kenneth Cole´s latest campaign features role model individuals who have thrived in spite of challenges to become the truly inspiring beings they are today supporting different causes that need to be addressed by our society and us as individual in any way we can. As Liya Kebede (an accomplished model, actress, and maternal health advocate featured in the campaign) said: "No act of giving is too small".

So I´m back, hoping #MyStepsWill inspire you to follow our dreams too. See you there!

Thursday October 27th, 2016. La Buat, Casco Antiguo, 6:00 - 9:00pm

Siempre he sido del tipo de personas que piensa mucho las cosas antes de tomar una decisión. Quizás lo pienso mucho. Soy de hacer las cosas pero, honestamente, a veces dudo las decisiones que tomo, como puede pasaros a todo en algún momento.

Algunas experiencias me han recalcado la importancia de hacer e ir por las cosas. Empieza por algún lado, aunque te sientas aterrado de dar ese primer paso y no te sientas preparado. La verdad es que la mayoría de las veces no estamos completamente listos para las cosas. Vivimos en un constante proceso de aprendizaje y siempre vamos a querer mejorar o arreglar algo, especialmente cuando eres perfeccionista y quieres que todos los detalles sean, bueno... ¡perfectos! Cuando a oportunidad llega tienes que darle con lo que tengas, listo o no. Así es que improvisa, toma chances y fluye.

La idea de hacer un concierto extendido antes de finalizar el año ha estado en mi mente desde hace mucho y este evento es el escenario perfecto para mi regreso. ¡Es demasiado emocionante! Aunque nos hemos preparado con poquito tiempo para este show (y hay cosas que quiero acomodar y trabajar para los shows de verano), estoy muy feliz y con suerte de tener una alineación de músicos all-star tocando conmigo. Confío completamente en que van a tocar mis canciones espléndidamente y sobre todo, espero que se la pasen de lo mejor tocando conmigo ese día y en los futuros shows, mientras continúe siendo bendecida con salud y mis talentos.

Ha llegado el momento de hacer mi primera presentación como artista solista, luego de meses de break que he tomado desde mi último concierto en el Panama Jazz Festival en enero de este año. Ha pasado un tiempo y aunque he tenido ciertas presentaciones en eventos especiales y colaboraciones con artistas, ¡dar un concierto completo es otra cosa! Amo subir a un escenario aunque sea a cantar una sola canción, pero siempre es mejor no haber terminado cuando apenas estas calentando. Siempre quiero más.

El día especial será este jueves 27 de octubre en La Buat (un club en Casco Antigo a orillas del mar), donde Kenneth Cole tendrá su evento #MyStepsWill, presentando su fabulosa campaña de otoño 2016: The Courageous Class.

La más reciente campaña de Kenneth Cole presenta a individuos ejemplares que han prosperado a pesar de dificultades para convertirse en las inspiradoras personas que son hoy en día, apoyando diferentes causas que necesitan ser atendidas por nuestra sociedad y nosotros como individuos de la manera que nos sea posible. Como dijo Liya Kebede (una modelo, actriz y promotora de la salud maternal quien figura en la campaña): "Ningún acto de dar es muy pequeño".

Estoy de vuelta, esperando que mis pasos los inspiren a seguir sus sueños también. ¡Los veo allá!
